How do I change and wash Pophie’s plush outfit?
To change the plush outfit:
- Gently remove the current plush outfit upward from the bottom.
- Starting at the top of Pophie’s head, pull the new plush outfit down over the device like a sweater.
- Guide the ears and arms through their matching openings, then adjust the fabric so they can move freely.
- Adjust the fabric around the face and make sure the breathing light is fully visible.
Hand-wash the plush outfit in cold water and let it air-dry. Do not use a washer or high-heat dryer. A small amount of loose fiber may appear when it is new; remove it gently with a lint roller.
Can I use Pophie outdoors, and where should I place her?
Yes. Pophie can connect to a mobile hotspot and can be powered by a power bank rated at 5V 3A or higher. The included cable is USB-A to USB-C; if your power bank only has a Type-C port, use a C-to-C cable that supports 5V 3A or higher.
Place Pophie on a flat, stable surface away from edges. Avoid thick rugs, cushions, and uneven surfaces because they can affect stability or block bottom ventilation. Use her in even, well-lit conditions; avoid strong direct sunlight, backlighting, and continuous loud music or television nearby. Drops or strong impacts can damage her precision internal components, and this type of damage is not covered by the warranty. Mobile hotspot connections may also be less stable.
Is Pophie noisy when she moves?
Can I put stickers on Pophie’s face?
3. Setup, Accounts & Connectivity
Where can I download the app, and will I need it every day?
The app is available from the App Store and Google Play. Search for Pophie, or visit pophie.com/download.
The app is mainly used to activate the device, configure Wi-Fi, and access certain device controls. Most everyday interactions happen through natural conversation.
How do I connect Pophie to Wi-Fi for the first time?
- Download and sign in to the app, then tap Add via Bluetooth on the home screen.
- Place Pophie on a powered charging dock, turn on Bluetooth on your phone, and keep the phone near Pophie. Keep Pophie close to the router as well.
- When the app finds Pophie, confirm the device name and device number, then tap Connect.
- Choose a saved Wi-Fi network or enter the password for a new one. Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi when possible, or 2.4 GHz if Pophie is farther from the router.
- Wait for network configuration and the server connection to finish.
Setup is complete when the app returns to the device home screen and shows a green dot, Online, the battery level, and Wi-Fi status.
Pophie supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and mobile hotspots. Some campus, company, hotel, or public networks that require a browser sign-in are not supported.
Which Wi-Fi networks does Pophie support, and can I switch between home Wi-Fi and a mobile hotspot?
What can I view and control from the app home screen?
Where can I change Pophie’s name, network, and other settings?
Where can I change the app language, log out, or delete my account?
Why does one Pophie have an owner account and Shared Accounts?
What can Shared Accounts do, and which settings are limited to the owner account?
Shared Accounts can handle most everyday tasks, including checking device status, adjusting volume and brightness, changing eye styles and appearance, switching modes, setting a Sleep Timer, putting Pophie to sleep or waking, restarting, or powering her off, viewing letters, and enabling automatic display adjustment. The exact controls available are shown in the app.
Only the owner account can rename the device, invite or remove family members, transfer ownership, switch networks, change the language, perform a factory reset, or install system or firmware updates.
How do I share Pophie with family members?
From the owner account, open Share Management, select the device, and copy the invite code. Send the code only to someone you trust. The other person should sign in to their own app, choose Add with Invite Code, enter the code, and confirm.
They do not need to repeat Bluetooth or Wi-Fi setup. Pophie will appear directly in their device list. Do not post the invite code publicly. There is currently no limit on the number of Shared Accounts.
How do I view or remove family members who have joined Pophie?
On the app home screen, tap the three-line menu in the upper-right and choose Share Management. You can view the device, owner account, invite code, and Shared Accounts from this page.
The owner account can remove a family member at any time. That person immediately loses access to this Pophie. If their account has another device, the app may switch to it; otherwise, the app will show that no device is linked.
Can a Shared Account unlink itself from Pophie?
Can other family members keep using Pophie after the owner account unlinks?
If there are family members, the app first asks the owner account to select one of them as the new owner account. The selected member takes over, the original owner account loses access and does not automatically become a Shared Account, and all other family members remain linked.
The device settings, network, benefits, and current state remain unchanged. After the transfer, only the new owner account can perform a factory reset.
How do I hand Pophie over to a family member?
Invite the family member through Share Management first. The original owner account can then unlink and confirm the transfer of ownership. The family member becomes the new owner account, while the original account loses access. The device settings, network, benefits, and current state remain in place.
If Pophie is being sold, transferred, or given to someone outside the family to start fresh, the original owner account should perform a factory reset before the new user links the device over Bluetooth.
What should the current and new owners do when Pophie changes owners?
What is the difference between removing Pophie from the app and performing a factory reset? Will the subscription remain?
Unlinking or removing Pophie from the app only removes the connection between the current account and the device’s SN / serial number. It does not delete the account, factory-reset the device, remove other family members, or automatically clear the network, settings, or data.
A factory reset can only be performed by the owner account. It unlinks every account, invalidates unused invite codes, and clears local settings such as Wi-Fi and cached data. Previous letters and photos will no longer be visible to either the previous or the new account.
In both cases, any remaining subscription benefits stay tied to the device’s SN / serial number and become available again after the device is linked and connected.
Where can I find help or contact support in the app?
4. Features & Interaction
Which languages does Pophie speak?
How do I switch Pophie to another language?
Tell Pophie which supported language you want her to use. A request such as “Answer in English this time” applies only to the current turn, while “Use French from now on” sets a longer-term preference.
If you do not give a new instruction, Pophie first follows the language preference already set and then considers the conversation context. Using an occasional word from another language, such as “OK,” does not automatically change the long-term preference.
Can Pophie switch languages when family members speak different languages?
What is Pophie’s default wake word?
Can I give Pophie a nickname and use it as a wake word?
You can set or change a custom nickname from the upper-left corner of the app home screen. Pophie will use the nickname to address you, and it can also be used to wake her, although it is usually less reliable than the fixed wake word.
The fixed wake word is “Nuobao” (糯宝) when the app language is Chinese and “Pophie” for other languages.
Do I need to say the wake word every time I talk to Pophie?
Can I interrupt Pophie while she is speaking?
How can I ask Pophie to be quiet for a while?
You can simply ask Pophie in natural language to be quieter, talk less, pause for a moment, or give you more space.
You can also make a “shh” gesture toward her. She will turn away and stop interrupting. This state continues until you wake her with the wake word or look at her and speak.
Can Pophie tell who is speaking when several family members are talking?
Will a noisy room affect my conversations with Pophie?
Will Pophie start conversations on her own?
On the Pro plan, Pophie can greet you, start a topic, notice changes around her, or offer a reminder or caring response when the situation is appropriate. She considers the current scene and whether speaking might interrupt you, so she will often continue observing quietly.
For example, she may say something after you have been busy for a long time or react to actions such as picking up a cup, stretching, or smiling.
Besides talking, how else can I interact with Pophie?
You can move while looking at Pophie and let her follow you with her eyes and body, call the wake word so she turns toward the sound, interrupt her naturally, pick her up, or gently stroke her back or sides for a relaxed response. Continuous gentle stroking between her eyebrows can help her fall asleep.
Most everyday interactions can also be initiated through natural conversation.
Can Pophie notice when I need care or encouragement?
Can Pophie understand scenes, objects, and written text?
Yes. Pophie can recognize faces, expressions, objects, and settings such as bedrooms, kitchens, offices, and restaurants. She can also understand content shown on screens, including television, movies, livestreams, and games.
She can read clearly legible text on items such as packaging, menus, books, cards, and T-shirts.
What can Pophie do in Full mode?
What does Pophie do in Guardian mode?
Guardian mode provides local guarding without a cloud connection. In this mode, the device does not collect information about the surrounding environment, and nothing from the time spent in Guardian mode is retained or used after switching back to Full mode.
Pophie does not speak in Guardian mode. She quietly stays with you through instinctive reactions and movements.
How does Private mode protect my privacy?
How do I switch modes? Can I use voice to leave Guardian mode?
How do I put Pophie to sleep or wake her up?
What can Pophie do without an internet connection?
When offline, Pophie can still provide basic lifelike interactions, local visual behavior, and device controls. She can respond to stroking, patting, being picked up, or being rocked; turn toward someone entering her field of view; and react locally through touch and posture sensors. If you use the wake word, she can also indicate that there is no network connection.
Full AI conversations, cloud-based visual understanding, and other online features are not available offline.
What kinds of things can Pophie remember about me?
Does Pophie’s memory only store the most recent lines of a conversation?
Can Pophie remember earlier conversations and bring them up later?
Will Pophie still remember me after a shutdown, restart, or update?
If Pophie remembers something incorrectly, will she update it when I correct her?
Will Pophie’s personality change as we spend more time together?
Can I ask Pophie to take a photo?
Will Pophie take photos without my permission?
Where can I view or delete photos taken by Pophie?
On the Pro plan, photos from Auto Capture are saved automatically and can be viewed in the app. The exact location follows the current app layout.
To delete an individual photo, press and hold it in the app’s album or message conversation page.
What can I do with a photo after Pophie takes it?
How do I turn a photo taken by Pophie into a different art style?
Open the photo in the conversation, then tap Pophie paints (the paintbrush icon) on the full-image page and choose a style. The available styles are white-paper doodle, 3D paper craft, felt art, crayon, and watercolor.
The result appears in the conversation. Use the labels at the top of the full-image page to switch between the original and the different art-style versions.
How many AI redraws can I make each day, and when does the allowance reset?
Will an AI redraw replace the original photo?
How long does an AI redraw take, and will I be notified when it is ready?
Will Pophie write me letters, and how often will I receive one?
Pophie sends letters through the app about small emotions, thoughts, and memorable moments from your interactions.
When you have not interacted with her for 1–3 consecutive days, she sends one letter per day. After 4–14 days, she sends one every 3 days; after 15–29 days, one every 7 days. After 30 days or more, letters pause until interaction resumes.
Which language will Pophie use in her letters?
How do I include a favorite photo in tonight’s letter?
Open a photo Pophie took that day and tap Add to tonight’s letter on the full-image page. You can select either the original photo or an AI-redrawn version as the reference for the letter painting.
Make your selection before 1:00 a.m. local time the following day.
How do I reply to a letter from Pophie, and when will she respond?
Open any letter in the app and tap the pink paper-airplane button in the lower-right corner. You can reply to older letters as well.
Replies are not instant messages. Pophie responds naturally in her next letter, which is usually generated at around 1:00 a.m. the following day in your local time.
Can I tell Pophie, “Remind me at 3 p.m.”? How do I cancel a reminder?
Will a reminder still go off if Pophie is asleep or offline?
On the Pro plan, a reminder will still go off while Pophie is asleep. She opens her eyes, wakes fully, looks for you, delivers the reminder once, and then returns to sleep.
If Pophie is offline, she plays a prepared offline reminder at the scheduled time, although she may not be able to continue chatting without a network connection.
Can Pophie help me find something I have misplaced?
Can Pophie search the web, and what are Skills?
Yes. Pophie can search online for up-to-date information when needed and use it in the conversation.
Skills work like small plug-ins for Pophie. A Skill can describe a capability in documentation or use a script to connect to a third-party service or tool.
Can Pophie tell stories or play games with me?
Can Pophie play music, take song requests, or play a specific artist?
Pophie has 90 instrumental or backing tracks across 10 styles, with 9 tracks in each style: Pop, Rock, Hip-hop, R&B, Country, Smooth Jazz, Progressive House, Reggaeton, Afrobeats, and Orchestral. You can request a style, such as “Play some rock music.”
You cannot currently select a particular artist or track, and Pophie cannot play radio stations. Asking Pophie to sing uses her song library with lyrics; asking her to play music uses the instrumental music library.
Which white-noise sounds can Pophie play, and will they keep playing?
5. Subscription & Billing
What does each Free, Standard, and Pro plan include, and how much does it cost?
- Free: Basic lifelike interaction and limited everyday voice and visual conversations.
- Standard: $10 USD per month or $100 USD per year. It unlocks complete multimodal conversations and long-term memory development.
- Pro: $20 USD per month or $200 USD per year. It adds continuous environmental awareness, more proactive interaction, and the complete Skills ecosystem.
Why does Pophie require a subscription?
What is the practical difference between Free, Standard, and Pro?
- Free: Without an active entitlement, the device and the app switch to Guardian mode. Full mode and Private mode are unavailable. When you use the fixed or custom wake word, Pophie provides only basic responses and movements to locate the speaker.
- Standard: Includes complete voice and visual conversations with contextual memory. You initiate the interaction; Pophie does not continuously observe the environment or interact proactively.
- Pro: Includes everything in Standard, plus continuous environmental awareness, proactive interaction, proactive care and reminders, photos, object finding, and the complete Skills ecosystem.
Do Standard or Pro limit how often I can chat with Pophie?
Will my subscription renew automatically? Will I be charged when a complimentary subscription ends?
A paid subscription you purchase renews automatically on the monthly or yearly billing cycle you select. You can cancel it at any time.
A complimentary subscription period included with Pophie does not charge you automatically when it ends. Your account returns to the Free plan.
Where can I subscribe, view, or cancel my subscription?
When does a complimentary subscription period begin?
Is the subscription tied to my account or to Pophie? Can family members use it?
Pophie’s subscription benefits and personalization settings are tied to the device’s SN / serial number, not to a user account. Changing phones or signing in elsewhere does not affect them as long as you connect to the same Pophie. This includes subscription benefits, visual themes such as special eyes, and the custom nickname.
Family members linked to that Pophie can use its active subscription benefits. They do not receive a separate subscription and cannot transfer the benefits to another device.
Will Pophie still remember me after my subscription ends?
6. Privacy, Safety & Data
Does Pophie store recorded audio or video on the device?
What audio or visual data does Pophie send to the cloud, and is the raw data kept afterward?
Pophie first processes inputs such as camera images, voice, gestures, and the wake word on the device in real time. To support visual conversations, emotional interaction, and multimodal understanding, some visual and audio information is sent to the cloud for AI processing.
Raw audio, ambient sound, and video are deleted after processing and are not stored long term. Speech may be transcribed into text, and that text may be retained as long-term memory. Sensitive personal information such as identification numbers and home addresses is filtered and excluded from long-term memory.
Learn how she protects your privacy →Can Pophie still hear or see what is happening when her eyes are closed?
When Pophie’s eyes are closed, video is not uploaded to the cloud. Audio may still be sent to the cloud for processing, so closed eyes do not mean that all cloud processing has stopped.
The device may continue basic local detection of ambient light, nearby movement, and nearby voices. These local sensor signals are neither uploaded to the cloud nor stored on the device.
Pophie’s eye display acts as a visible privacy indicator, so you can use her eye state to understand the current privacy level.
Where are my conversations with Pophie stored?
Where are Pophie’s long-term memories about me stored?
Is my data encrypted, and is it directly linked to my identity?
Will Pophie remember sensitive details such as my identification number or home address?
Does Pophie use my memory data to train other AI models?
Can other people see the photos and artwork created with Pophie?
Can other family members see the replies I send to Pophie’s letters?
Yes. A reply is stored together with the original letter, so every family member linked to the same device can see it. The confirmation page shows this before you send the reply.
Reply content may also appear in a long image when a letter is saved or shared. A reply is not a private message visible only to Pophie.
Will Pophie tell other family members my birthday?
How does Pophie keep interactions safe when adult topics come up?
How does Pophie avoid crossing inappropriate boundaries while providing companionship?
